About

Whitney English Nutrition Blogger

Hi, I’m Whitney!

I’m an Entertainment Reporter/Host turned Healthy Living Blogger, NASM Certified Personal Trainer and soon-to-be Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, here in the heart of Los Angeles.

When I first came to Hollywood, I was fascinated by celebrities. How did they look so beautiful, skinny, and fabulous all the time?!

I made it my mission to find out.

Whitney English Nutrition Blogger

Every time I interviewed an actress, I grilled them on their diet and exercise routine and their tips for staying fit.

I quickly learned though, there’s no big secret. Despite what you see in Carl’s Jr. ads, they work incredibly hard for their hot bods and stick to very strict diets.

Not everyone does it the right way though, which is one of the main reasons I started this blog. I wanted to take the positive lessons I’ve learned and share them with other people looking to lose weight, look great, or simply improve their health. And, I wanted to debunk any harmful myths perpetuated by Hollywood along the way.

The more I learned about exercise and nutrition though, the more I realized how much I still didn’t know. So in September 2013, I decided to go back to school to pursue my long-time dream of becoming a Registered Dietitian. I am currently enrolled in USC’s Masters of Science Program for Nutrition, Healthspan, and Longevity, while still attending the occasional star-studded event. I also became a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in September 2014.

  8. Your story is pretty amazing. I have a similar one as far as weight loss goes, I was never ever really overweight, but after a period of almost a year of eating junk, I weighed 30 pounds more than I had before. It was a bad place to be. I lost it all the next year by dropping soda and fast food.

You’ve probably encountered all sorts of stories about this from celebs, including ones that will never air on TV and only you are privy to.

Thanks for sharing, i love your blog already and I just stumbled on it.

  13. Hi Whitney!

Love your blog. I have a quick question. I’m studying broadcast journalism as well but I love nutrition. How many more years of school do you need to become a certified Dietitian?

    • Whitney English says:

      Hi Pia,

      Thanks for the support!

Becoming a Registered Dietician requires earning a Bachelor’s or a Masters in Nutrition along with completing 1200 hours of a dietetic internship (about a year) and then passing the board certified exam from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

For me, this has meant going back to school for 2 years to earn my pre-reqs and then if/when I am accepted to a grad program, I’ll have 2-3 more years of school working toward my Masters in Nutrition.

      More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dietitian

      Hope that helps!
