No more trips to the beach, no more crop tops, no more Watermelon Mojitos.
I couldn’t be happier. For one, Southern California barely experiences the seasons anyway, so it’s not going to be that much of a change.
Secondly, there’s a ton of cool stuff to do in the fall!
Need some help getting pumped? Check out my list of eight fabulous fall activities, food, and clothes to get excited about.
8 Reasons I’m Amped For Fall
- Holiday flavors:
Right now, it’s all pumpkin everything, and I’m loving it. I’ve got my pumpkin coffee, my pumpkin tea, and my pumpkin smoothies in full rotation. Next month, it will be cranberry. Then peppermint and eggnog. Never a dull moment for the senses.
What other time of year has this many tantalizing tastes?
- Chunky knits:
When the weather gets cooler, I love nothing more than crawling out of bed and into a big, soft sweater. It’s like getting to wear your pajamas out in public. This one from Zara looks especially cozy.
But the best part about this fall fashion staple?
Chunky knits are perfect for “chunky days.” When I’m feeling blah and bloated, I toss a chunky knit over some tight black skinny jeans and instantly feel better. Nothing to see here folks! In the summer, you have no where to hide.
- It’s cool, but not cold:
I apologize to anyone living in a place where it’s already freezing, but here in sunny SoCal, it’s perfect! The weather is in the mid-70′s everyday, so it’s cool enough to go for a jog or hike at any time of the day without overheating.
In the summer, you have such a small window to beat the heat. In the winter, it’s usually too cold most of the time…unless you like running with ear-muffs and five layers of North Face on.
Spaghetti, Butternut, Acorn, and of course Pumpkin. Squash is one of my favorite foods and it is in abundance in the fall. You can’t visit a food blogger’s recipe page without finding an amazing dish made with one of these delicious fruits. Yes, squash is a fruit.
Try some of my favorites:
- Riding Boots:
As soon as it gets cool enough, I live in my riding boots. They’re warm, comfy, and I feel like a bad a** in them.
Riding boots are great for long walks because they are comfortable enough to endure the distance, but less nerdy than wearing your tennis shoes everywhere like an exhausted soccer mom.
When I go to NYC, I’ll wear these black Tory Burch boots for long walks around the city to get a low-impact workout and look stylish while doing it.
It’s the rare bird that get excited over soup, but I’m one of them. Not to say you can’t have soup in the summer, but a piping hot bowl of creamy goodness is just better in the fall. If you make your soup at home, you can have huge servings for very little calories.
And like cool, crisp green juices in the summer, soup is a great way to pack in your veggies. I’ll be trying out a ton of new recipes in the weeks to come, but for now, here’s the easiest recipe ever for Creamy Broccoli Soup.
- Cozy nights in:
In the summer, it’s all about movies in the park, art walks, and outdoor concerts. But just as much fun stuff happens indoors.
How about a game night with your gang? Can I interest anyone in a round of “Celebrity”? Or a wine & cheese party with your best gal pals. And, of course, a s’mores and scary movie night with that hot guy you’ve been eying (BF’s will work too).
I have some similar to these BCBG leggings and they are a staple in my fall wardrobe.
